Foods To Avoid On A Pre Diabetes Diet
Firstly you should bear in mind that we know you cannot avoid all of these foods all the time. In fact you shouldn’t even try too. Everyone knows that to be successful with a diet you need to enjoy foods in moderation. This means treating yourself every now and then. Just use your common sense and be sensible about it.
When it comes to a pre diabetes diet, you are eating foods in order to prevent the onset of diabetes. Pre diabetes is the stage before you develop full blown diabetes, so of course you will want to do whatever you can to do this.
Simple carbohydrates are generally the foods that you need to avoid. Most of the foods that fall into this category will not surprise you. For example things such as sugar and honey should be avoided. Of course this means foods such as cakes, biscuits, chocolate and candy. Most soft drinks are also off the list.
However there are some foods that we would assume to be healthy, that also fall under this category which is something that not many people realise.
These include apples, blackcurrants, cherries, melon, plums and strawberries. This is just a small section of them. Once again it doesn’t mean that you should avoid these foods altogether. However if you are following a pre diabetes diet then your consumption of these simple carbohydrate foods should be kept at a minimum where ever possible.
Diabetes is a serious illness and although it can be treated and often kept under control, it can also lead to a number of more serious ailments. Therefore following a pre diabetes diet is very important if you want to avoid this from happening to you.
